A Cake Smash & Splash session is a structured, relaxed studio photoshoot split into three stages, all photographed professionally in our Culcheth studio near Warrington.
1. First Birthday Portraits
We begin with clean, timeless portraits of your child before the mess begins. This allows your little one to settle into the studio and gives you classic images perfect for grandparents, birthday invitations, and wall art. Family and sibling photos can also be included at this stage.
2. The Cake Smash
Next comes the fun part.
Your baby is introduced to a professionally styled cake, matched to your chosen colour palette or theme. Some babies delicately poke the icing. Others dive in face-first like a tiny Viking. Both are excellent life choices.
This stage captures genuine expressions, curiosity, laughter, and those iconic messy moments that define a first birthday cake smash.
3. The Splash Bath
Once the cake has been thoroughly defeated, we move on to splash time. Your child enjoys a warm bubbly bath with bubbles and props, giving us adorable bath-time images and ending the session happy, clean, and usually very proud of themselves.
